Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock and alternative. However, it has influences from punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as an icon of women's rights, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first creator in DIY music. It was one of the first artists to establish her own label in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had been in contact while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Both her parents were both from Montreal origin. Ani DiFranco wrote and sang 32 Flavors. The track is available on the album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, released in 1996. It was also featured on the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apology was made in the year 2013 when it became known that she had planned to host the three-day event at the site of a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco offered a second apology several days after. While she has been known for her role as the Little Folksinger her music spans many kinds of genres and collaborates across the spectrum from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince.
