The shadows she observed on the lawn inspired her to work for months on an approach that does not, however, paint the selected object onto canvas. This way, the chosen subject transforms into an image. This happens especially with living objects or those that will perish like fruit or even humans. Her ephemeral painting style is evident and what remains in Alexa Meade's work is the photographic image. Photography and painting are tightly together to produce an unflattering two-dimensional space that is a trompe l'oeil. At certain locations, the third dimensions can be seen, for example, around the eye or on the hair. Meade has also integrated her model paintings into the 3D space that surrounds them.
